I'm not sure if this is the correct forum for my question but I'm hoping someone can help. My Podiatry doctors are starting to give and bill out camwalkers/L4360 on the dos that surgical consultation sheets are filled out to be used during the post-operative period.

They are DME providers, but only contracted with Medicare. I went to a seminar in February and was told that if the camwalker was given at the time of sx the doctor can bill for it, but he shouldn't be giving it before surgery.

I welcome anyone's opinion or knowledge regarding this.

Thanks,
Elaine

In my case, we operate in a hospital setting, so boots is given by the hospital and billed on the facilities side.

I have, in the past, given a brace to a patient during on their pre op visit and had them bring it on the day of surgery.

This was billed on the outpatient side.

That is, provided your Dr. has a DME number for the outpatient facility.

Has anyone else used this method for billing DME for operative patients?
