hello:

my doctor is billing 44140 twice, two portions of the colon were removed? it is that possible. this is a mcr patient. please help

Any coding scenarios are considered per different circumstances, medical necessities and all fairness lol, so depending on op note. We know what ever goes as long as it can be rationalized. Some things are not black and white especially when the anatomy is no longer virgin.

how about if two portions are removed and only one anastomosis was done?

44140 and 44140-52?
