If the patient is getting Chemo and a test dose is given over a 5 minute period in the morning but the actual Chemo drug is given in the afternoon, can a push (96411) be charges for the test dose? Now the test dose drug in not charged additionally but I was wondering if we are allowed to charge the push for that time?

Can a chemo test dose be charged

Not typically. The reason being is when the chemo is given later in the day the admin for that usually encompasses the entire amount of the drug.....for example 2mg test dose is given, but 20mg was ordered and the other 18mg was given later as tx.... We do document the test dose, amount ,times etc, but our facility does not charge for the test dose in that case.
