Normal women need an annual check up which includes contraception/family planning, menstrual issues in younger women, postmenopausal issues in older women, routine breast and pelvic exams, and Pap and cultures. Women with specific gyn dysfunction are worked up for the various disorders including reproductive, endocrinologic, pelvic prolaspe, infertility, urinary, gyn oncologic, genetic, etc. and then referred to the gyn specialty clinic. On the other hand, prenatal care requires monthly visits in the first part of the pregnancy and weekly visits in the latter part. The midwives in our hospital setting are involved in all of these activities and could provide the same at your site.
