Wiki Can modifier58 & 79 be billed on the same code?

I have a situation where a patient is receiving an intravitreal injection during the post op periods of the following procedures:

  • an unrelated cataract surgery
  • an unrelated retinal detachment surgery (performed on a different eye)
  • a related PRP laser treatment


Technically, this injection could be considered both related and unrelated. Would it even be proper to code both 58 & 79?
