The patient was admitted to the hospital by the Urologist. He was seen in the ER and then admitted. The Urologist did a History and Physical. The next day the Urologist did the procedure. The procedure is considered minor (no global days.) We should be able to bill the admission and the next day procedure, right???
We billed 99223 (day of admission)
next day we billed 52332 and 52320.
I know we cannot bill the discharge because it is included with the procedure but according to Minor Surgery Guidelines on Medicaid's website(this is the insurance denying) Pre-operative day is not included in the minor surgery global. If it was a Major Surgery with a 60 to 90 day global then we could use a -57 modifer, right?
How can we get paid for admissons and minor procedures???
