Hi we have started a new tele heath / family practice and we are wanting to not only get the best rates with insurance payments and our billing software but also want to be able to streamline the billing. We will be having anywhere from 6-20 (depending on our volume). Will we need to do so many under each MD or can I bill them all under 1 medical director? Please HELP!

We have a Telehealth office and the NPs are making the calls but we want to bill under the supervising physician to get the MD rates from the ins. Just want to confirm how many NPs can be under 1 physician and can we bill it out this way (ex on claim: rendering physician (NP) / billing provider (MD) )

Got it. Different payers have different policies so unfortunately there's no single/simple answer to this question.

You're going to need to look at a few things:
A. Each payer's requirements to determine whether:
1. The payer allows billing of an NP's work under a physician's name at all.
2. If a payer allows it, their requirements for doing so.
B. State law to determine how many NPPs a physician can supervise. The American Academy of Nurse Practitioners likely has a short-cut to the relevant information for your state: AANP | The American Association of Nurse Practitioners
