My US-based patient with UHC insurance was traveling in Canada and required a 4 day stay in Canadian facility. Insurance won't process claim indicating there is no way to do so because they don't 'translate' Canadian medical coding .
Anyone know of a crosswalk or solution to this?
Many thanks

The patient should be able to obtain copies of itemized statements and medical records from which the necessary codes could be derived. Claims for services received outside of the US are usually submitted by the patient themselves with this documentation attached for the insurance companies to process, in my experience.

I agree. And we have done that but UnitedHealthcare said there is no way for them to determine what the corollary US codes are and they don't process Canadian codes. Just another UHC scam...
Thank you so much.
