If one cardiologist from another group asks our cardiologist to do a consult on a patient can we bill for this? The reqesting cardiologist has already billed a consult and our cardiologist wants to bill the consult as well.
 
Interesting question.

So, the first Cardiologist consulted the patient and charged accordingly (assuming all the documenation warrants the consult). Was the patients condition above and beyond their expertise that they had to send the patient to another cardiologist for another opinion?

I just want to make sure I understand the scenario before I provide an opinion.
