When a patient has a scheduled Cardioversion or TEE, is it OK to bill an observation level with the procedure? All of the physicians document detailed discharge instructions and a note regarding the procedure. At times there is also continuous observation depending on the patient. One physician feels it's appropriate to bill for the observation, while others are on the fence. Can anyone direct or advise to where I can get this answer so that all physicians are on the same page?
