I have a vascular surgeon who is doing intraoperative carotid dopplers when he does carotid endarterectomy. Is this a new standard of care? Is the doppler a separately codable/billable/reimbursable service? He is doing this to ensure his endarterectomy was complete

My physicians have always done this and as long as they dictate separately their findings you can charge 39882-26 for the interpretation code. But you have to make sure that they did the interpretation or you can not bill for it. As for the Technical code that is done through he facility.
