Occasionally our physicians perform a cataract surgery but do not implant the IOL. They state the code 66982 best describes what they have performed. I have had them review code series 66830-66940 and they all state those codes are not reflective of the procedure performed. I am struggling with what code to use. Can I bill 66982 with mod 52? Is there another code that describes a complex cataract surgery without IOL?
