Does anyone use a Category II Depression screening code? Especially at a yearly physical?
I have found the following codes, but I am unsure of which to use, if either are even appropriate.
1220F—Patient screened for depression (SUD)
3725F—Screening for depression performed (DEM)

Would either of these codes be correct? Or do they need to have a diagnosis of substance use or dementia to use those codes?

I have been advised that the depression screen is bundled with a CPE, so my coding superiors don't want us to submit the depression screening code in addition to the CPE's. Now, this would be different if it's an AWV or IPPE. Is this being billed with a CPE or AWV/IPPE?
