Has anyone taken the CEDC exam? Is it for physician based urgent care or facility based ER? Thanks for info

Neither

The CEDC is for ED physician documentation/coding for hospital or free standing EDs. I don't think there is a specific exam for ED facility services ( maybe there should be!). Urgent care codes are pretty much E&M outpatient/office codes so most likely covered in the CEMC, but I defer to coders who have taken the test.

For CEDC Exam, you should concentrate on E/M 1995 &97Coding guidelines, Anatomy &Physiology, Medical terminology, ICD9 Coding Guidelines and Coding of surgical procedures performed by ED Physicians, shared visits, Coding of moderate sedation,EMTALA, and Medicine section.

Wish you good Luck.

Thanks,
