Hi everyone!

Can anyone tell me how they would handle the following situation:

A patient is discharged from the hospital in the morning but then returns to the hospital in the evening and is re-admitted. Can two initial visits be billed on the same day?

You are not describing two initial visits, but a discharge (99238-9) and an initial admission (99221-99223). No, you cannot have two admissions on the same DOS.

Yes, this scenario happens occasionally. We have it often in oncology.
