I am new to neurology coding and I am having trouble knowing what dates I should be using for the date of service for 2019 cpt codes 95930, 95816, 95810, 95805, 95800, 95925,95956. Should I use the procedure date, the date the doctor signed the report or authored date?

Thank you for any help with this.

The procedure date. The report may have a date on it (authored date), but it should also always have a "date of service" date. For instance, a test may be performed on Monday. The doctor is busy and doesn't dictate until Tuesday. It comes back from transcription on Wednesday, and is electronically signed on Wednesday.

Report date: Tuesday
Date of service: Monday
Signature date: Wednesday

For multi-day tests/procedures, the American Academy of Neurology recommends using the start date of the procedure as the billing date.
