Hi all,

My physician saw a patient for follow up after sinus surgery. The physician is billing for the scope (CPT 31231) with dx code J32.9 (Chronic sinusitis). However, there is nothing indicated within the patient's chart for DOS 10/1/2015 that indicates that the patient currently has chronic sinusitis. If the patient currently shows no evidence of disease, and has no active symptoms; the physician is only doing the scope to visualize the cavities and assess patency from the surgery do we still code the chronic sinusitis?
