Chart PMH: History of alcoholism V11.3 resolved 2-14;
Office visit dated 9-25-14: Assessment of office visit states: Cirrhosis of liver: 571.5
Coder is saying that 571.2 should be coded because of history.
No where in the office visit does the doc refer to the alcoholism as a cause of the liver cirrhosis. I thought the actual assessment had to state specifically alcoholic cirrhosis of liver in order for this code to be used.
