I am desperately searching for a source to get an realistic number of encounters that a coder should code per hour or per 8-hour day in the office setting. Everything that I seem to be finding is for hospital records or charts. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Does your practice have a quota?

What type (OP notes, Dx coding, E/M coding, both Dx & E/M) and speciality are the encounters? For example, OP notes are typically more difficult to code than office visit coding. It all depends on the type and speciality. As a reference, our coders typically aim for 2-5 minutes per encounter depending on the type and speciality.
