Does anyone know how to get a payer to consider 2 pages of a HCFA (more than 6 charges) under the same claim number? A coworker suggested not filling out boxes 28-30 on the first page, and that way the insurance would have to combine the 2 pages together to get the correct total, I'm just not sure about leaving form fields blank.
 
Placing page information at the top of the claim form may help - but, it is my experience that the majority of payers are scanning documents and electronically reading paper claims. So, I don't really think there is an answer to payers "connecting" more than 6 lines together ... it may be possible, if you're concerned about duplicate rejects - to avoid this by ensuring that duplicate codes be submitted on the same page. Other than that, there really is no great way to handle this other than to contact the payer when duplicate rejects occur ... does this help in any way?
