Hi all, we are reviewing timeliness processing CMS guidelines and are trying to determine if the day the claim is received by the pay is day 1 or day 0.

For example, if a clean claim (electronic) is received 3/1/2020 and paid on 3/31/2020, the time between the two dates is 30 days.

I don’t know why I’m struggling so much to comprehend this, but we’re working on some reporting and there are differing opinions on day 0 or 1.

150 - D (1) - Claims Processing Timeliness - All Claims

Any help or resources would be appreciated!

If it is received on March 1 and paid on March 2, then it is paid in one day, not in 2 days. If received day is day 0, then it would be 2 days.
Therefore... March 1 and paid on March 31, it is paid in 30 days.
