Patient is 11 months old. Please help with Dx: CMV 771.1. This message bothers me. The Medicare/Tricare consider Code Editor consider this a newborn diagnosis (age 0). In the assessment of doctors consult note also says history of CMV or had CMV. Per google once infected with CMV, your body retains the virus for life, however, CMV usually remains dormant if you're healthy. The DRG w/o this code is $17,644.00 but if I add the 771.1 the DRG is $31,320. It really has a big impact on the drg but I am totally consufed if I will capture it or not. Please help...
