I have been remote profee coding obgyn for 5 years and have cpc. I just obtained my COC and cannot find a job due to not having experience in acute care/ same day surgery center and It’s is so frustrating. I was so excited to have passed and cannot even use it because no one will give me a chance unless I have this experience. I’m also taking CIC course now and am afraid I will run into the same issue. I want to be well rounded to further my career.

Look for a role as a pro-fee coder in a hospital system. Then you'll be available should a surgical coding position open up. The same concept would apply with your CIC..... you need to be in the right place at the right time, and this is where those kinds of jobs open up.
