Wondering if anyone can help clarify when we use Z codes "Encounter" for screening vs code actual sign and symptoms.
Our company is at a health fair and we do PAD and DPN screenings. Patients answers to a list of symptoms on a questionaire form, and based on the questionnaire we decide which screening the patient will receive. Do I use the Z codes to indicated the reason for the health fair visit (Z01.89, Z13.6) or just code the signs & symptoms or actual diagnoses base on the screening test results?
