Does anyone have a physician office policy and procedure regarding employment of non-certified coders? I am specifically looking for a policy that states if the practice hires a non-certified coder they have a certain time frame (1 year for example) to become certified.

Thanks

We have a policy here where we will hire coders who do not yet have their CPC with the stipulation that are to obtain their CPC within one year of the date they are hired. We will pay for their certification. However, if after one year they fail to obtain their CPC or terminate their employment costs incurred are to be reimbursed by employee.
