My surgeon has a pt with an above knee amputation. The procedure he now performs is an I&D of a fluid filled sack at the lateral aspect of stump. Dissection was carried out and the fluid was evacuated and a bone spur found adjacent to where the muscle bundle was attached was believed to be the cause of the fluid and was taken off of the femur by smoothing the entire edge of the bone. The wound was closed in layers at conclusion. What CPT code would you bill?

Look at 10140 for the I&D of the seroma at wound site and 11044 or 11047 for the bone debridement. You'll need to use a modifier 78 as well if this was done during the global period of the AKA.
