Does anyone know when you code 250.xx if you can use both 585.x (CKD Stage x) and 583.9 (unspecified pathological lesion in kidney)? I wasn't sure if you could use both with the DM code?

Coding 250.xx with 583.81

So the same would apply if you were to use 250.xx with 585.x or 585.81. You would only use the 585.x and not the 585.81. Am I correct?

What did the MD write on the progress note?

I am not sure if this is possible but you can check with your doctor:

"Diabetic nephritis with ESRD": 250.40, 583.81, 585.6
