If a dx states bronchitis and it states in the documentation that it is a new issue with sudden onset do you code acute bronchitis or bronchitis unspecified? Same with sinusitis and conjunctivitis?
 
Will code 490 for Bronchitis i.e. Bronchitis, not specified as acute or chronic.
473.9 for Sinusitis i.e. Unspecified sinusitis (chronic) and for Conjuctivitis code 372.30 i.e. Conjunctivitis, unspecified.
