If the admission/encounter is for treatment of the anemia only that's associated with the malignancy therapy is an E code necessary for the type of treatment agent involved?

Depends on how the physician documents the information.

285.22 Anemia in neoplastic disease
(does not require an E code)

285.3 Antineoplastic chemotherapy induced anemia
(does not require an E code)

284.89 Aplastic anemia due to antineoplastic drug
- Use an E code to identify the cause
