I need assistance in understanding the following senario: patient arrives through the ER and is given the first dose of antibiotic for a UTI. Then admitted for OBS status. LR @ 100ml/hr is started and then 3 more doses of antibiotic are given every 8 hours. How can you capture the hydration and therapeutic infusions for this visit? Thanks

The antibiotic was given IV-Zosyn and was ran through the same line as the LR. Both weren't ran concurrently. The pump is set to allow the infusio of the antibiotic and then convert back over to the LR.

Thanks,

It depends if the antibiotic is being delivered via the hydration or is it separate? Also is the antibiotic being given IV infusion, IV push, sub q/im?
