Wiki Coding Cosmetic Services - To do, or not?

When doing something cosmetic to a person (botox, acne peel, breast implants, etc) would it be necessary to send these procedures off to insurance companies after receiving payment for these services from the patient, knowing that the insurance will deny it, with a $0.00 charge?

My reasonings are these.. I know that if we don't send it off... what if they develop an infection and need post op care? Or if it affects later in their life? Botox, life threatening swelling? Or acne peel, reaction to the chemical. How would insurance company know for future reference, or even "pre-exisiting conditions"?

I work in a dermatology office and we do not send our cosmetic procedures to the insurance at all. I don't think it would turn into an issue if something came up as a result and you had to send that to the insurance. :)

I work for a plastic surgeon we do not send cosmetic procedures to insurance and have not had issues filing complications.
