We want to do GET (Geriatric Evaluation & Treatment) exams using 96118 (up to 3-4 units). Along with this code an thorough H&P is conducted by the M.D.- averging about 1/2 hr. The whole process (4 hours) consists of a MD, social worker, psychologist, review of records and interpreting mental test results, and discusion/treatment with family. Can an E&M be charged-(99205 or 99215 or what level is indicated by the chart documentation) for the MD portion of the visit, along with the 96118? Should any modifiers be used? Almost all of these patients are Medicare. Thanks for any help.
