Does anyone have experience coding for NICU neonatal nurse practitioners? The practice I work for want to capture the procedures they do for attendance at delivery 99464 and other procedures like arterial blood draw, lumbar punctures, etc... It is hospital protocol to have the NICU nurses at every forcep and c-sec deliveries. I am told they can bill for these. I have explained the Official Coding Guidelines for Chpt 15 codes 760-763. Specifically They are interpreting codes 763.2, 763.3, and 763.4 as being able to use these codes routinely. My interpretation is that these codes can only be used if the procedure affects the newborn. Thanx in advance for any clarity you can give me.
