Physician removed a tunneled peritoneal dialysis catheter & replaced/repositioned new PD catheter through same site.
Not sure how to code this. Any help is appreciated. :)
 
Fitting and Adjustment of Peritoneal Dialysis Catheter

I would general use an "Encounter" code for this procedure. Since there was a catheter already in place prior to this procedure, I'd use V56.2; this includes the fitting and adjustment. If there was a complication with the catheter as well, i.e. mechanical complication, use 996.56.
 
I disagree with using the encounter code because in the guidelines it says to use the encounter code for the removal of a NONTUNNELED catheter...
