So, say my Optometrist sees an Est pt for visual loss and floaters. Does a comprehensive exam and history and determines the patient has a retina tear and refers them to one of our Ophthalmologists for a laser treatment. Does the Optom get to code a 99215 even though he is not doing the actual surgery? Also, when they see the Ophthalmologist that same day or next day, does he get to bill a office visit for his exam and decision for surgery? Any suggestions here would be of great help!
Thanks!!
