I am wondering how other office's are handling an issue we have. I work at an optometry office and we are seeing a lot of patients that are coming in with a foreign body in cornea and an abrasion at the same time. We understand the dx code that needs billed for the foreign body is T15._____. What we are having a problem with is when the patient also has a corneal abrasion due to the foreign body. The only dx code we can find is S05.0_A_ (which states without a foreign body) and can not be used at the same time. Our doctors are applying a bandage contact, which by my understanding, you needed an abrasion dx with (since that is why they are using it). How are others handling this issue? Did you find a code that works well for the abrasion when the patient also has a foreign body?
