Hello, I would appreciate some coding advice of the coding of a full-thickness laceration of the cheek that extending from the skin of the cheek of the face down through to the mouth.
The physician performed a simple interrupted suture to repair the skin and then repaired the mouth also. I used the coding software and coded both a simple closure of the skin of the cheek with 12001 and the closure of the wound in the mouth with 40830. However, in doing this I received CCI coding edit. Evidently we would not code these two CPT together. Does anyone have experience with this emergency department scenario.
