I have a question about HCPCS coding for supplies, please.
I know that when providers dispense DME to patients (i.e. braces, diabetic supplies, etc), that the provider has paid for, we can code for these things using HCPCS codes as long as the documentation and requirments for coverage have been met for the payer.
Here is my question...What if the provider does not actually dispense the DME to the patient, but just writes an order for the DME for the patient to take to the pharmacy? Can you code for this DME or would the coding be done by the DME supplier (in this case the pharamacy)?
Let us say that a patient comes into the office and the provider orders home nebulizer treatments and writes an order for a home nebulizer for the patient to take to a pharmacy or DME supplier to get the nebulizer. Can we code for this?
