coding labs with a physical

I am curious how others code labs when done at the time of a Physical. We code a diagnosis, if there is one, such as hyperlipidemia or hypertension, otherwise we link the lab to the physical, V70.0 or use a screening code.
I have been getting many calls from patients saying that their labs would be covered by insurance 100% if they were coded to the physical.
But if there is a dx, we do not consider it under the preventative.
What do you do?
Thank you,
Peggy

This is benefit issue not a coding issue. That is what I tell patients, if in fact everything is coded correctly. If there is a problem you can't code it as screening.
