Can I still code for a preventive visit if no pap smear was collected? Can i bill for just a breast exam and pelvic with no pap smear collection?What disgnosis would I use?
 
Yes you can bill for a well visit without a pap. You would use dx V72.31 which is annual exam with OR without a pap. If the patient is Medicare you would only bill the G0101 and not the Q0091 for the pap.
 
No Medicare will not pay for G codes every year unless the patient is considered high risk. In the office I work in the patients have to sign an MCR ABN every year just letting them know that.
