I am teaching ICD-10-CM and I have a question about this scenario.

The patient is a complete paraplegic due to a traumatic L2 vertebral fracture five years ago. At this time, she is experiencing no new problems.

The answer key states the answer to be: G82.21, S32.029S. However, at the S32 category level it indicates in a code first note to code first any associated spinal cord and spinal nerve injury (S34.-). We do not know the type of spinal cord injury, which would indicate to query the physician for clarification of type of spinal cord injury (incomplete vs complete) as in this instance the unspecified would send up a red flag with edits.

Any opinions on this scenario?
