Hi all,
Need some assistance please. Have a provider who has a patient with polycystic kidney disease and ESRD....or should I say had these. She received a kidney and is doing well. My question is, I understand we should not still be coding the ESRD as pt no longer receiving dialysis, but what about the PKD? Technically the kidneys are still in the patient so they still have the polycystic kidneys. Between physician and coders we are just not sure what should be used for this patient. Finding no clear guidelines for this instance. ICD10 says if corrected should use personal history code, but this hasn't really been corrected if the kidneys are still there. Just added a healthy kidney.

Any help appreciated!! :confused::confused:
