We are a surgical dermatology practice that has Medical Assistants see patients for their "post-op" visits (CPT 99024, $0 charge). Our physician is not involved in the visit at all as the visits are usually just for dressing changes.

We are using an EMR system that says we have to code as the medical assistant being "In attendance," and the "provider." They are saying the physician should only be listed as the "biller."

What would be the correct way to identify the MA and physician role for these post-op visits.

Thanks!
