We have a question in regards to billling for professional services in the inpatient setting.
When billing on a 1500 form for inpatient services can you use documented probable or suspected diagnoses or would this be the guideline for only billing on a UB form.

Thanks for you input. Any documentation that you have will be very helpful.

Only the inpatient facility coder can code possible probabaly or suspected dx, when you are coding for the physician reimbursement you always follow physician rules regardless of place of servioce, reference the correct coding guidelines posted on the ICD-9 CM data warehouse for more information.
