Hello, this is my first time asking anything on here but I had a question about a new position that I can apply to within my company. Currently I am a Risk Adjustment coder and am able to apply for a Coding quality Analyst position but I'm not quite sure what that specifically is and was hoping someone here works in that field or would be able to better explan, even though I could quickly do a google search, id rather come here and ask in regards to job details. I am new at coding and this is my first coding job ive had but i dont mind switching over to other coding jobs because that would just be another skillset i could add under my belt.

I am not trying to be rude, but, did you read the job description from your company and/or talk to co-workers who are employed there? Places may have different ideas and descriptions of what this means. Checking the internal job description is the best way to understand what it is. If you are a RA coder, do you have QA & QC done on your work currently? Is the role specifically for RA QA only?
Generally, these roles will do QA or QC of other coders either before or after billing. I would say this probably isn't a role for a brand new coder because you have to have experience in order to oversee other people's work and give them feedback. It's sort of like auditing. Most places, I assume, would want at least 3-5 years experience. Sometimes I have seen they want the coder to be the SME for the other coders as well.

Not rude at all, we work remote and I’m not too familiar with the other co workers on the email we were notified, those who were selected based on the qualifications, to not discuss about it. The initial email doesn’t have much information only we need to take an assessment and then we could potentially apply but pay difference isn’t guaranteed. I have done various projects within this company from first time coding, which is the RA, second level review, NPI review, chart review, IOA, but since since I’m new to coding I don’t know what all to ask and what’s appropriate, in past jobs unrelated to coding I’ve been told it’s not appropriate to discuss or ask questions since it may come off that I’m only interested in the money. I appreciate your feedback, thank you!

So, they identified people by name to one another in an email regarding taking an assessment for a different role? That seems so odd to me. So, you would know who you were applying against, should you make it that far? It also seems weird that they would do that with no job description or posting on what the job actually entails. What in the world? LoL.
Am I missing something? Like, hello here is an email where you can take an assessment to get a different/new role, but we don't tell you what the role pays, give you a job description, and we also identify other co-workers who may or may not also apply and get this job? They are just shooting out emails for employees to take assessments?
At the least, you could ask your supervisor or manager about it I would hope.

Trust me it’s odd at first I was like “okay” a new role, new opportunities and higher pay perhaps. But I did ask my supervisor and she said I could communicate with whoever sent the email and so I did but the response was after we do the day training we take the assessment and if we pass we could apply for the position but it wouldn’t guarantee a pay difference. So I’m a contractor through and agency working with this current company offering this and I went on their website and found the job description but not in my area, the pay is way higher than I make now. I’m hoping to just reach out further to my supervisor because it does seem odd and since I’m not familiar with what I can or can’t ask I just don’t want to be doing more work for same or less pay if that makes sense even if it’s another type of skill to learn.
