Wiki coding question for cataract removal without lens insertion

Our physician was going to perform a cataract removal with IOL (66984). There were complications he inserted the lens but then had to cut out the lens he inserted into the anterior chamber. He also performed an anterior vitrectomy. We were thinking 66850 would be the correct code since the lens was not kept. Can anyone else weigh in on this?
