Coding to a lower level

I am having disagreements with suggestions to code to lower level scope when a debridement was performed. Please help!

We would be glad to help, but we need more information from you. Suggestions would be summarize the notes and the codes you are using and we can give you quality feedback and even site sources for you.

Without seeing the note, we will have to take your word for it that a debridement nasal endoscopy was performed and documented to support the 31237.

The 31231 is the diagnostic endoscopy and would be used if there was no documentation clearly supporting debridement performed.

Thank you! The note does clearly document that the debridement nasal endoscopy was performed and even mentioned it in the notes with the specific code 31237.
