Was wondering if it is allowed to collect a deposit up front from patient before doing their surgery? We have had insurances deny after getting prior auth. and not pay us on a total knee surgery. Not sure if we are allowed to collect any deposit up front if patient has met deductible/co-insurance?

If you have contracts with the insurance plans and patient has met their responsibility you should not collect from patient upfront as they have met their obligation. Not sure what your totals are denying for however you may want to contact you local rep with that carrier and make them aware of this issue

This would be contractual, but I can't imagine any insurance that would allow you to collect beyond deductible/co-insurance/copay. Just like if your claim is denied for timely, you can't then bill the patient.
As previous poster mentioned, I would be following up about what your denials are.
