We had a patient in to have a Colonoscopy and Endscopy today, and the Dr had to stop the Colonoscopy due to inadequate prep. Dr tells me that the patient is still in the hospital and he will try to do the Colonoscopy later today, How would that be billed, can we bill the procedures with a 53 modifier on Colonoscopy, then bill for the completed one with a 76 modifier? Any help would be appreciated.

I work at an Endoscopic Surgery Center and what happens if someone has a poor prep and they are coming back the next day (not the same day mind you) as long as they were under anesthesia, that is charged as a procedure with a modifier because it was incomplete, there is a separate charge the following day for the second colonscopy.
