New biller/coder confusion. I'm unsure how to answer this question for a patient. Patient was seen 5 years ago for a screening colonoscopy. During the procedure diverticulitis was found along with internal hemorrhoids. Patient was asked to follow up in 5 years. Based on previous finding of diverticulitis; patient currently is not having symptoms but wants to know if she will ever qualify for a screening colonoscopy again or if a colonoscopy will ALWAYS be diagnostic from now on. Trying not to confuse myself between screening, surveillance & colonoscopy... I'm hoping someone with experience can answer my question and point me to some good resource material.
